Woodland Painting – Sunlit Forest
This is an original oil painting on a stretched canvas which measures 36″ x 24″. It is one of a series of woodland studies inspired by the recent forest walks where the sun has been shining through the trees and creating a halo effect – known as crepuscular rays.
It is framed in a contemporary white high gloss ‘stepped’ frame and is strung ready to hang straight on your wall. The overall size is approximately 42″ x 30″.
It depicts the light streaming through the trees in a forest, I used oil paints with many layers of glazing and waxes to create depth and drama.
I only ever use professional quality materials so it will remain in perfect condition for a lifetime and beyond, all it needs is a gentle dust to keep it clean. I have applied satin varnish to the painting which enhances the depth of colour, this has also shown how the different brush strokes and mediums have a different sheen and texture which gives a lot of surface interest.
